Membership in the BBPA offers you an opportunity to be a member of one of Canada's premiere Black community organizations. BBPA members enjoy the opportunity to meet interesting and influential people, market their products or services or obtain valuable information.

In addition you may give back to the Black community through the BBPA by donating to the Harry Jerome Scholarship Fund, supporting our events and community outreach activities or volunteering your time.

Networking
BBPA events are among highly valued social and business occasions in the Black community. Over 1,000 professionals, business people, and others attend the Annual BBPA Harry Jerome Awards gala.

BBPA Exchange, our monthly speakers forum provides an opportunity to network with other Black professionals and business people, to hear informative and entertaining speakers and discuss topics of interest. These events are great opportunities for you to market yourself, your products or services.

Rewarding Excellence
Since 1983 the BBPA has recognized and rewarded excellence in the Black community each year through the Annual BBPA Harry Jerome Awards. Established in the name of Harry Jerome, an outstanding Canadian Olympian and social advocate, the Harry Jerome award is a highly sought after symbol of achievement.

Providing Educational Support
Recognizing that education is the cornerstone of a strong community, the BBPA established the Harry Jerome Scholarship Fund to provide scholarships to deserving your people in the Black community. In addition, business seminars geared to the needs of small business are provided for the benefit of BBPA members and the community at large.

Advocacy
In the past the BBPA played a role as a major advocate for the Black community on issues relating to employment equity, immigration and policing among other issues of concern to the community. We will be continuing this role, but with the emphasis on workplace diversity, education; and business and economic development.

Social Activities
There is always time for stress relieving, entertaining activities for social recreation and with the support of our Young Professionals Committee, we organize social events for the enjoyment of members and the community at large.
