The following scholarships are available to students attending accredited Canadian universities or colleges who satisfy the eligibility criteria. Please refer to the overall BBPA National Scholarships eligibility criteria. Students attending universities or colleges outside Canada are not eligible.
The BBPA Legacy Scholarships
BBPA Legacy Scholarships are established in the name of Black Canadians who enriched Canada with their contributions in the arts, the professions, science, business, technology, politics and other areas of endeavour. Each scholarship is in the amount of $2,000.00, except for the scholarship in the name of Harry Jerome, which is for $5,000.00. BBPA Legacy Scholarships are funded by general donations and investment income from the endowment fund.
First Generation Scholarships
First Generation Scholarships of $1,000.00 to $2,000.00 are available to students whose parents have not participated in post-secondary education studies. Qualified students must be residents of Ontario and must meet all other eligibility criteria of the BBPA National scholarships. First Generation Scholarships are funded by an endowment established with the proceeds of a grant from the Government of Ontario.
Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarships
Four Leaders of Tomorrow scholarships valued at $2,000 each are available to students from high priority neighbourhoods in the Greater Toronto Area who are attending an accredited Canadian university or college.

BMO Financial Group Scholarships
Sponsored by the Bank of Montreal, two scholarships of $5,000 each are to be awarded to students with academic achievement who have also demonstrated social responsibility; attending an accredited Canadian university or college.
Borden Ladner Gervais LLP Scholarship
Borden Ladner sponsors one (1) scholarship valued at $3,000.00 to a student attending law school at an accredited Canadian university.
CIBC Scholarship
Sponsored by CIBC, one scholarship of $5,000 is available to a student attending an accredited Canadian college or university who is enrolled in a course of study leading to a business degree. Eligible students must demonstrate academic achievement, leadership potential and commitment to helping in the community.
Erma Collins Scholarship
Sponsored by Professor Erma Collins, one (1) scholarship valued at $1,000.00 is offered to a student attending community college.
Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP Scholarship
Sponsored by Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, one (1) scholarship valued at $5,000.00 is offered to a student attending law school at an accredited Canadian university.
Lucille May Gopie Scholarship
Sponsored by Kamala Jean Gopie and named for her mother who came from humble beginnings and encouraged her children to dream and to achieve through education. This $2,000.00 scholarship is for a young person who has been encouraged by a single parent to pursue higher education as a means of self fulfillment.
Guntley-Lorimer Science and Arts Scholarship
Sponsored by Dr. Edith Guntley-Lorimer and Professor Michael Lorimer, four (4) scholarships valued at $2,000.00 to $3,000.00 each are available to students enrolled in Science and Arts programs at an accredited Canadian college or university.
HSBC Bank Canada Scholarship
This scholarship of $5,000.00 will be given to a student who is entering the first year of studies at an accredited college or university in Canada.
Maritime-Ontario Freight Lines Scholarship
The Maritime-Ontario Freight Lines Scholarship is sponsored by Graham - Munro Charitable Foundation. One (1) scholarships of $3,000.00 is available to a student enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree, diploma or certificate program at an accredited Canadian university or college.
Minerva Scholarships
Sponsored by Dr. Miriam Rossi and Mr. Renato Rossi, in honour of Dr. Rossi's grandmother, two (2) to four (4) scholarships valued at $2,000.00 to $4,000.00 each are available to students attending an accredited Canadian university or college.
Procter & Gamble Scholarships
Procter & Gamble Canada Inc. is sponsoring two scholarships of $2,000.00 each to students enrolled in a course of study leading to a business or general degree from an accredited Canadian university.
Queen's University - Robert Sutherland Entrance Award
Established by Queen's University, this scholarship is available to a Black student entering the first year of any direct-entry undergraduate degree program at Queen's university. Robert Sutherland, a graduate of Queen's University and native of Jamaica is the first known university graduate of African descent to graduate in Canada. This scholarship is for $5,000.00 and is renewable for three years. Applications are to be submitted to Queen's University by March 1st. For more information visit www.queensu.ca.
RBC Scholarships
Sponsored by the Royal Bank of Canada, two (2) scholarships of $5,000.00 each are offered to students attending an accredited Canadian university or college and enrolled in a course of study leading to a bachelor's or master's degree in Business Administration or a related program.
The Rose Family Scholarships
Two Rose Family scholarships of $5,000.00 each will be granted to students enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree program in law and in accounting at an accredited Canadian university.
Scotiabank Scholarship for Business
Sponsored by Scotiabank, these two scholarships of $5,000 each are for students attending an accredited Canadian college or university. They will be awarded to students enrolled in a course of study leading to a business degree, who demonstrate high academic achievement as well as leadership skills and a commitment to helping in the community.
Julia Viola Simms Science Scholarship
Sponsored by Dr. Leebert Wright and Dr. Ouida Wright and named for Dr. Ouida Wright's mother who had a lifelong aspiration for higher education and aided and inspired thousands of young people to make education a worthwhile goal. This scholarship of $3,000 will be awarded to a female student who has been accepted into a post-secondary degree program in one of the sciences such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology or medicine at an accredited Canadian university.
TD Bank Scholarships
Sponsored by the TD Bank, two four year scholarships of $7,000 each are offered to students enrolled in a course of study leading to a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited Canadian university. In addition, scholarship recipients will be offered an opportunity for summer employment during their four-year period of study.
Tropicana Community Services - Robert K. Brown Scholarship
Tropicana Community Services sponsors one scholarship of $1,500 in honour of its founder, Robert K. Brown. This scholarship is available to a student enrolled in a course of study in the field of social services at an accredited Canadian university or college.
University of Toronto - Dr. Anderson Abbot Scholarship
The Dr. Anderson Abbott Scholarship for $4,000.00 is for a student enrolled in a Health Sciences program at the University of Toronto. The University of Toronto has established this scholarship in recognition of Dr. Anderson Abbott, the first Black medical doctor to graduate from a Canadian university.
The Madeline Blackman Scholarship
The Madeline Blackman Scholarship of $3000 is available for a student enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program in The Arts or Fine Arts at an accredited Canadian college or university. The scholarship will be awarded to a student who is Antiguan and Barbudan by birth or descent and who is a citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
